How to fix Update Error 0x8024a10a on Windows 7, 10 Version

  • Inside the command prompt window, type or copy+paste the following command, and then press Enter.

sfc/scannowsfc/ scannow

  • Now your system starts to scan, it may take few minutes.
  • Once you completed all the process, restart your system and check for the said error.

In case, the error persists, then you need to run a DISM scan to erase the update error 0x8024a10a from your system. To run DISM scan, follow these step,

  • Open Command Prompt window, as shown in the above step
  • Then in the newly opened Command prompt screen, copy+paste or type the following command, and then press Enter.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

  • If DISM fails to obtain files online, then you need to use an installation DVD or USB. After inserting media type or copy+paste the following command in the Command prompt window,

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:RepairSourceWindows /LimitAccessrestore health

  • Ensure to change C:RepairSourceWindows” path of your USB or DVD.
  • Once you are done, restart your system and check for the said error. 

Fix 2: Disable Antivirus:

Sometimes the antivirus installed in your system may interrupt the update process, thus the update error 0x8024a10a appears on the screen and keep you from the update process. In this scenario, you need to temporarily disable the antivirus installed in your system. If the said error still persists, then you need to completely remove the antivirus from your system.

To remove the antivirus, you can depend on a reliable app remover tool, it will remove your antivirus and all the files and folders related to the same software. At the same time, you need to install a trusty another antivirus to safeguard your system from malware and viruses.

Fix 3: Perform Clean Boot:

  • And go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
  • Here disable all startup programs one by one and then press OK.
  • Once done, restart your system and check the Update Error 0x8024a10a issue persists or not.
