How to Fix 0x00000124 BSOD Error

Recently, many Windows users have been reporting the 0x00000124 BSOD error, which causes their computer to automatically shut down or restart, and unsaved data may be lost. The said error pops up on a blue screen with the error message “System encountered hardware error encountered”. After a simple restart, your system will sometimes work fine and if this does not help you then you need to fix this error as soon as possible, otherwise, it may cause big trouble to your system.

The 0x00000124 BSOD error typically caused by defective hardware, memory, or even processor due to heat-related issues and occasionally by driver-related problems. It may reoccur if you don’t fix it.   • Firstly, in the desktop search bar type, troubleshooter, and open the relevant search result. blue screen

  • Finally, restart your system and check for the said error.

Fix 2: Check for Windows Updates:

Windows introduces the latest updates from time to time to enhance the performance of your system and resolve existing issues. Here for the 0x00000124 error also you can install the latest updates and check it helps or not. To update your Windows, you can follow these below steps,

  • In the desktop search bar, type check for updates and the Settings window will open for you.
  • In the Settings window, select the option Windows update from the right pane menu.check for updates

Fix 4: Run the SFC Scan: 

Sometimes the corrupted system files can also be the reason for the 0x00000124 error. Here simply running the SFC can help you to get rid of the said error in no time. To run an SFC scan, you can follow these steps,

  • Firstly, in the desktop search bar type, cmd and open the Command Prompt window from the search results. Make sure you opened it with administrative access.sfc/ scannow
  • Then inside the Command Prompt window type or copy+paste, the following command and press Enter.

sfc /scannow

  • Let the scan run on its own. Once done, restart your system and check for the said error.

Fix 5: Switch off the C1E Enhanced Halt State Setting:

As per some suffered users, they resolved the 0x00000124 error by simply switching off the C1E Enhanced Halt State setting in BIOS. Hence, we also recommend the same here. To switch off the C1E Enhanced Halt State setting, follow these steps,

  • Firstly, restart your Windows, then press F2 as it reboots.
  • Now choose Advanced Chipset Features and then select CPU Configurations. You can move to the menus using the keyboard arrow and Enter keys.
  • Then select C1E Enhanced Halt State settings and then press the Enter. 
  • Now select Disable from the option. Thus the settings are switched off.
  • Finally, press F10 to save the changes, exit from the BIOS and then restart the system. The said error might be resolved now.

Fix 6: Roll back to the Restore Point:

The error 0x00000124 may occur, sometimes as a result of any recently installed applications. Therefore, to avoid the said error, we suggest that, you move the system back to the previous point where this error no longer exists. To roll back your Windows, follow the steps given below;

  • Press Window + R altogether to open the RUN dialog box.
  • In the RUN, type rstrui.exe and press OK. Now the System Restore window will open for you. system restore

  • In the newly opened window, select Show more restore points and from the list, select a restore date where the said error does not exist.
  • Then select Next and click on Finish to confirm the process. Once done, Restart your system. The issue got solved now.

Fix 7: Use System Restoration Tool:

If none of the above solutions works for you, then you may need to use a trusted third-party system restoration tool. The tool will start scanning automatically, and if it finds any problematic files on your system, it will repair them automatically.
