  • To disable Depth of Field and Movie / Film Grain and Post-Process Effects, add the below commands to the Engine.ini file and save the file.

Note: the first two commands are used to disable Movie / Film Grain, the third one to disable Depth of Field, and the last command is for disabling Post-Process Effects. 

  • Once you are done, save the Engine.ini file with the latest changes and relaunch the game and check the said error is resolved or not.

Fix 7: Run Clean Boot:

If all the above-given fixes did not help you resolve The Ascent keeps crashing issue, you need to perform a clean boot. To perform a clean boot, you can follow these steps,

  • Firstly, press Windows + R simultaneously to open the RUN dialog box, then type the following command in the given textbox and click on OK.

  • Now inside the System Configuration window, select the Services tab from the top horizontal menu, tick the checkbox beside Hide all Microsoft services, and click on the Disable all button.
  • Then go to the Startup tab and click on the Open Task Manager link. Task Manager startup
  • When you are in the Task Manager window, go to the Startup tab, select each item in the list and click on Disable.  
  • Then again, move to the System Configuration window and click on OK.
  • Once done, restart the system, relaunch the problematic game, and check whether the issue is resolved.

The issue is resolved, then go to the System Configuration window, move to the Services tab, and enable each item in the list one after another until you detect the problematic app. Once you find the problematic one, Uninstall it from your system.
