  • Firstly, click on the “Start” menu and in the search box, type “services.msc.” In your search results, you will find the Services menu. Click on it to open.
  • A new window will pop up with all Windows services on your computer.

  • Now, right-click on the “Windows Update”, and then from the drop-down menu, click on “Stop.”

Fix 2: Clean Windows Update Temporary Cache Folder:

  • Click on the Windows “Start” menu and start typing “cmd” on your keyboard.
  • Now the Command Prompt window option will open to you. 
  • You have to right-click on the search result and select the option Run as administrator.
  • If it asks for the admin password, enter the password and then click OK.sfc/ scannow
  • In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter to run the scan process.

  • Then let the scan complete on its own. This process might take some time. You can keep this black window aside and carry on other work.

When the rest of your work is complete, check once the black window after a certain time and check if the process stopped or not. As soon as the SFC process gets stopped, you have to restart your computer and check whether the said error persists. 

Fix 5: Edit Registry Window:

If all of the above solutions did not help you resolve the Windows Update error 0x80041014 issue, you need to edit the registry, but this solution is complicated. So you have to follow this solution at your own risk. To edit the Windows registry, you can follow these steps,

  • Firstly, press Windows + R simultaneously to launch the RUN dialog box, then type regedit in the text box and then click on OK. 
  • In the new window, you get navigation on the left pane menu. Then locate the path, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.
  • If you can see it, search for WUServer and WIStatusServer options.
  • If you do not find them listed, you cannot clean the download path. Otherwise, you can erase them both.

Once you are done, restart your system and check the said error code persists or is solved for you.
